We welcome university students who want to become cyber security experts and receive free cyber security training to our camp. Registration for the free BUSİBER Cyber Summer Camp 2021 for university students has started.
In our camp, participants will step-by-step learn the fundamentals of penetration testing, the working principles of the tools used, the basics of web applications, systems, and networks, as well as cyber defense topics such as log management and malware analysis. After the foundational training, they will test industry-standard tools on near-real-world systems, thoroughly understanding what operates in the background of these tools. Thus, after receiving this training, they will have the technical infrastructure to carry themselves further in the industry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will the camp be held face-to-face in a classroom setting? A vaccination certificate is required to attend the camp. Two doses of the vaccine must have been administered, and 15 days must have passed since the last dose. PCR tests are not accepted in place of a vaccine. During camp registration, HES (Hayat Eve Sığar) codes will be requested and checked. Students will be admitted to the campus with daily HES checks. Wearing masks is mandatory, and social distancing rules will be followed at the camp.
Is attendance mandatory? You are expected to attend full days, every day, for the entire duration of the camp. We do not accept partial participation, as we do not want to be unfair to other students who are able to attend the full program.
Is there an age limit for the camp? Event participants must be at least 18 years old. On the first day of participation, attendees will be required to sign a commitment form stating they will use the knowledge gained from the training in accordance with ethical and legal principles.
Is there a fee for the camp? Participation in the event is free. You will not be charged any training or material fees.
What are the prerequisites for applying? Can master's and open university students apply? Event participants must be university students who are at least 18 years old. Our goal is to provide cyber security training to students who do not have a regular income aside from pocket money and scholarships. Therefore, priority will be given to formal education students over open university students. Similarly, undergraduate and associate degree students are prioritized over master's students, because master's and open university students are often already working in the industry and can receive training through their employers.
What kind of questions are asked in the online exam? There are typically 30-40 questions measuring general knowledge levels in cyber security, TCP/IP protocols, computer technology, and operating systems. Additionally, there may be 2-3 CTF (Capture the Flag) style analytical questions.
When is the deadline for camp applications? The deadline is stated on the event visual. You must apply individually via the website.
Can I apply to the camp on behalf of a friend? No, every participant must apply individually using their own Eventbrite account. Following applications, there will be a pre-screening via an online exam, an elimination process through a face-to-face CTF-format interview, and a check of participants' ID and student ID cards.
What do I need to do after applying to the camp? You can stay informed about announcements, exam details, and results by regularly checking the email address you provided during registration, as well as our accounts at twitter.com/busiber and facebook.com/busiber. If you are selected, waitlisted, or moved from the waitlist to the main list, you will be notified via email.
How can I cancel my application? To cancel your application before the deadline, please cancel your ticket through Eventbrite. For cancellations after participating in the online exam, please contact us at siber@boun.edu.tr.
Is it possible to attend only a specific part of the camp (e.g., only mornings or evenings)? No. Participants who do not attend the entire training for full days will not receive a certificate.
Will a document be provided at the end of the camp? Yes. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued and presented to the participants.
If I am selected, will I cover my own transportation expenses? Yes.
If I am selected, will I cover my own accommodation expenses? Due to COVID-19, participants must cover their own accommodation costs.
If I am selected, will I cover my own food expenses? Participants will be provided with free meals at our university cafeteria for the duration of the camp.
Should I bring my own computer to the event? The computers you will use during the White Hat Hacker Training will be provided by Boğaziçi University. It is not mandatory to bring your own computer to that event. This year, two different trainings will be given in two different classrooms. If you are accepted into the other training, you must bring your own computer.
Are there rules at the camp? Participants who are absent, disturb other attendees, or engage in behaviors outside of the educational scope will be dismissed from the camp. Legal action will be initiated against anyone engaging in illegal activities during the camp, including in cyberspace and within the classrooms.
